When The System Fails
A Vulnerable Residents Experience
After a prolonged period without guidance or support for moving on and self-referral, despite repeated requests, a resident finally accessed the HomeFinder site without the aid of a key worker. She bid on a property and was offered a viewing. However, upon arrival, Housing Representatives were absent, and a male tenant threatened to assault her for being on the grounds.
When she contacted the Housing Representative, they berated her, misrepresented the situation, and falsely labeled her as hostile. The Representative then reported her to HomeFinder, resulting in her removal from the scheme without investigation or notification. This incident had a severe impact on her mental health and further restricted her housing options.
Following her request for an investigation involving Islington Council, the Housing Representative, and HomeFinder, her status was eventually reinstated due to a lack of evidence supporting the accusations.
Throughout this ordeal, the vulnerable resident had to navigate the situation alone, without keyworker support, while facing defamation from Islington Council and the Housing Representative. It took several months for her status to be restored.
The Blame Game

Not only was there no transparency amongst the separate bodies who are all there ‘to support the applicant’. But each separate body blamed the other to levels where they denied any direct involvement with the very System they have created.

This statement above was provided by this Residents Local Council. They clearly state that they could not and would not interfere or advocate on her behalf on HomeFinders decision to remove her from the scheme, on the basis that they are an external organisation.
LETS UNPACK THIS…..

Islington Council has their own website powered by Home connections

It is clearly powered by Home Connections. Who even provide their affiliated link below the page.

HomeFinder is a web and management solution created by Home Connections as has already been established in other areas of this site.

At the bottom of HomeFinders website is the same affiliation with Home Connection as on the Islington Council site.
What is a parent Company

To Further Remove the Benefit of Doubt…..

On HomeFinder there is a page dedicated to Islington Councils moves with HomeFinder
By being involved in a Housing Partnership/framework with HomeFinder Islington Council act as a conduit supplying and referring people on.
They are therefore involved by proxy.
Home Connection is a PARENT company of HomeFinder. Islington Council has a direct partnership with Home Connections.
Perhaps this is the reason for the lack of transparency by all parties involved.
In highlighting these issues this Vulnerable person has been victimised this is exemplified here
